Years of dreaming and planning culminated in this spectacular property with sweeping views of both the ocean and bay in the Strathmere side of Sea Isle City. Working from our own on-site measurements, we developed floor plans for the placement of furniture that would maximize comfort but leave the home feeling spacious. This is is a dream-come-true for the owners, who offer the property for weekly rental in the summer and use it for family get-togethers in the off-season.
The first floor features a casual living room space with built-in cabinets, wet bar, wine fridge, and wall-mounted TV. To keep the area feeling bright we directed the owners to a textured blue and white fabric with coordinating nautical print pillows and cube ottomans. Bright white occasional tables tie in with the white staircase. We anticipate that this room will get a lot of heavy use, so the fabrics were chosen for cleanability and durability.
The deck off this living room offers a beautiful view of the dunes through the glass baluster railing system. Adirondack chairs and table in recycled polymer provide the perfect place to have a drink after a day sunbathing on the beach across the street. There will certainly be high winds here, but the hefty weight of this furniture assures that it will stay put in a storm.
The dining area is defined by a cathedral ceiling in the center of the open floor plan on the third floor. We chose a custom solid wood leg table, chairs, and stools to match in a two-tone combination of white paint and espresso stain. The superior lacquer finish is a good bet for renters. A custom rug further coordinates the dining area with the kitchen backsplash.
The family gathers here for long evenings.
To carry through the colors of the kitchen to the bayside living area, we chose elegant outdoor grade sofas and swivel gliders in tonal Sunbrella fabrics to resist the fading of summer sunsets. Matching occasional tables and rug coordinate the area, making it a restful haven for quiet retreats from the activity of the kitchen and dining area.
In other parts of the house, a swivel glider provides a restful vantage point to engage in conversation or look out towards the beach, while a narrow three drawer credenza creates a foundation for a print that mirrors the dunes outside. Everything in the home directs us to enjoy the spectacular seaside views of this unique location at the Jersey shore.
