Located in Strathmere’s narrowest point, this home offers a beautiful view of the bay from one deck and a gorgeous view of the ocean from the other deck. It’s absolutely stunning, so when we saw these decks we knew the right outdoor furniture could do justice to the views and make life even more comfortable for these lucky homeowners. We wanted to share the process with you.
As you can see below, the unobstructed view of the ocean is to die for, so we wanted a bar height dining area that allows you to see over the railings while sipping cocktails with friends. We chose classic white adirondack style stools and a round table, made from 100% recycled milk jugs. These are low-maintenance and heavy enough to stay put in high winds.
To complement this high dining area, we created a cozy living area with a woven sectional featuring reticulated foam cushions upholstered in a neutral Sunbrella fabric. Coordinated pattern pillows break up the solid and tie in with the accent fabric on the matching swivel glider. We wanted a swivel glider here to take advantage of the views and allow the sitter to talk to someone on the sectional or at the high dining area during social gatherings.
The 35′ long bayside deck features a peaked awning and spectacular sunset views over the marshes but its unusual shape required some careful scale drawings to maximize space and comfort for barbecues. We created a conversation area under the awning with beautiful matching sofas facing each other and a 42″ round chat table in between. These sofas are just as comfortable as indoor furniture -if not more!- and the contrasting green welt ties in with the siding to create a relaxing oasis for entertaining or napping. This will be the place for making memories during lazy days of summer.
For dining and card games, we have a 48″ round teak table and five woven chairs that can be brought over to the sofas for additional seating. The colors and textures create the kind of classy serenity you’d find at a top notch resort. It’s not hard to imagine enjoying a sunset with friends and family at this table after a hard day sunbathing. The graceful backs let the sunlight through to make the area feel more open and the cushions coordinate with the sofa fabrics for an appealing flow.
These decks are now true outdoor living spaces and we’d like to thank our clients for the opportunity to make their home a sanctuary for the whole family. To protect this exquisite furniture, we recommend breathable, waterproof covers made by Treasure Garden.
